Farewell to PDG Billy Hills

Farewell to PDG Billy Hills William Edward Haigh "Billy" Hills died of a heart attack at the Linksfield Hospital, in Johannesburg, shortly before 9am on Wednesday October 26 2011, at the age of 69. He was born to Billie and Maud Hills on December 30 1941 at the Willowdene Nursing Home in Benoni. He died on the same day that his mother passed away in 1994. He went to primary school at St Dunstan's Memorial Diocesan School, in Benoni, and completed his high school career as a boarder at King Edward VII School in Johannesburg. In his own words dictated to one of his daughters the day before he died –he said he had done nothing "particularly auspicious" during his school life. VALERY BALT

 

 Born in Krugersdorp in 1962.  Met Anneas in 1980 and got married in 1984.  Two sons aged 25 and 22 and one daughter aged 6.

Trained as Personal Assistant in 1981 and held various positions as Personal Assistant to Managing Directors in the Mining Industry, Life Insurance and Retail.

In 1993 made a total career change.  Studied Anatomy & Physiology, Aromatherapy and Reflexology with Aromatherapy as a major.

In 1995 appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Aromatherapy at the Complementary Health Centres in Johannesburg and Pretoria.  In 2003 appointed as Vice Principal and Moderator to the Johannesburg College.

Was registered as a Therapeutic Aromatherapist with the Allied Health Professional Council of South Africa.

Was instrumental in writing the Aromatherapy two year syllabi which was approved by the Department of Higher Education.

She and her fellow Rotarians from the Kyalami Club were unpacking a container loaded with toys from Denmark at the Humanitarian Distribution Centre in Bedfordview. This ellie will go to the Big Shoes Clinic for abused and orphaned kids in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
