Rotary International

Through its PolioPlus program, established in 1985, more than one million Rotary club members have volunteered their time and personal resources to protect more than two billion children in 122 countries from polio. To date, the organization has contributed more than US$700 million -- a figure that will rise to more than $850 million by the time the world is certified free from polio. Rotary club members, known as Rotarians, also provide valuable support in the field during National Immunization Days and work diligently to secure essential political and financial support from both polio-free and polio affected governments.

The schedule below shows the book distribution since 2006 when the numbers started being recorded. Thanks to Rtn Ken Kay (Randburg) for administering the data. This project continues to satisfy so many people throughout Southern Africa. On average, 34, 368 books have been collected from the centre each month. The total book value, if one assumes the value per book is R 120, has reached R 200,024,510.

Thanks once again to PDG Tom Borrill, PP Robin Bath, Rtn Anne Murray and all the volunteers at the centre for their continued hard work. The Rotary Ann’s also done a sterling job. Thanks goes to PDG Ann Joyce Hogg and Gail Abel who assist with the distribution and managing of the linen and all the other goodies that PDG Ann, Sylvia Knoop has managed to source from the various hotels she has contacts with. Well done to everyone for another excellent year. With the recent connection cemented with the department ...

Rotary Working together in Pilanesberg

Julianne Reppenhagen

To our Wonderful Vocational Training Team and all those who supported their work,

Thank you ALL for presenting a wonderful, fun and useful program this morning.  It was very meaningful to me and I am not involved in the world of Early Childhood Education.  The day was a showcase for the lessons being learned between two continents and how people from different countries can work and play together so beautifully.  Thank you for the time you are spending (and have spent) to make this new program work.  It will have lasting effects in both Bridgeport and South Africa. I am so proud to have had the opportunity to work with you all.
Thank you again,

Julie
